Elmer Moody, 67, dies
Monday, December 21, 2009 - by Keith Gisser, publicity director, Northfield Park

Northfield, OH --- Northfield Park lost a fixture on Saturday night (Dec. 19) when Director of Security Elmer Moody suffered a heart attack just prior to the races and died.

Mr. Moody, 67, a former Walton Hills Police Sergeant, started at Northfield on Jan. 1, 1970, and supervised the security and parking departments.

A resident of Stow, Ohio, he is survived by his wife, Sandra Briggs; children, Sandy Hudak, Lisa (Sean) Kelly and Casey Welter; and five grandchildren.

Always quick with a quip, Mr. Moody was on a first name basis with hundreds of Northfield patrons. His passing leaves a huge hole in the Northfield Park family.

He will be laid to rest Wednesday (Dec. 23) at All Saints Cemetery following a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Barnabas Catholic Church.
