Primetime Patsy now has two wins in seven starts in 2009. She lowered her career-best time by more than two seconds and increased her career bankroll to more than $35,000 for trainer, owner, and breeder Greg Runyon.
“I waited until this year to really do anything with her,” Runyon said. “She (Primetime Patsy) is very mean. She has good days and she has bad days. I didn’t expect her to do this year, but she was almost perfect earlier in the year. Then, she got sick and she fell off a couple of races. Now, she is finally coming into her own.”

Rod’s Famous Ribs got the trip he wanted
Sacramento, CA --- A second-over trip was just what Rod's Famous Ribs needed to snap out of a little slump. A field of mostly conditioned pacers, with two in for a tag, were co-featured at Cal-Expo on Friday night, on which Rod's Famous Ribs was fastest of all.
Coming away in fourth position from post two in the field of seven, driver Lemoyne Svendsen was pleased with everything at the quarter pole, timed in a swift :28.
"I was sitting right where I wanted to be behind Dynamite Express (James Kennedy)," Svendsen said. "Plus the :28 quarter helped me because Axelrod (Jim Lackey) had been three-wide and I knew it would take the sting out of him."
Remaining in the cleanup spot at the half-mile marker, timed in :58, Svendsen was getting ready to step on the pedal.
"I knew at the half it was time to go because I knew I was going to have to be close at the top of the stretch."
Following the first-over favored Dynamite Express to the 9/16-mile pole, Svendsen and his anxious charge found themselves just two-lengths off the lead at the three-quarter mile station, timed in 1:27.1.
Moving three-wide for the drive, the 4-year-old would close into the lead at the seven-eighths mile pole on his own.
"I never asked him real, real hard until I saw Whitman (Steve Wiseman) gaining on me at mid-stretch. Then I went to work on my horse, but as soon as Whitman, who had followed me, got to the outside of me I knew he wasn't going by because "Rod" was digging."
Not letting Whitman catch him, Rod's Famous Ribs ($15.60) won by three-quarter lengths. Owned by Hei and Pam Mitchell in partnership with trainer Bob Johnson, the gelding stopped the timer at 1:54.4, thus giving Svendsen a driving triple for the second night in a row. Whitman finished in second, and Dynamite Express tried hard while another 1-1/4 lengths back, in third.
"He did everything I asked him to do and more -- It was a beautiful race," Svendsen concluded.
Co-featured on the card for a purse of $5,300 were trotters, against which Cherry Tree Luke won for the 38th time. Owned by Clint Lugar and trained by Ken Kakugawa, Cherry Tree Luke ($9.00) and driver Jim Lackey won by 1-3/4 lengths, in 1:57, a lifetime best for the 9-year-old gelding. Fox Harbor (Lou Pena) finished in second and Jam And Jelly (Rick Plano) was just a nose back, in third.
Live racing will continue at Cal-Expo on Saturday at 6:20 p.m., pacific. On Saturday, and through the conclusion of the stand, the Super High 5 (race eight) will have a $10,000 (guar.) pool.

All Deuce was "all in" in the Fillies and Mares Open Handicap pace
Hamburg, NY --- They say a trip to the seven-eighths mile track at Vernon Downs will put speed in your horse. That’s exactly what happened to All Deuce, the 6-year-old Cam’s Card Shark mare who went wire-to-wire in 1:58.1 on Friday night at Buffalo Raceway for owner William J. Blumhagen of Long Lake, N.Y.
All Deuce won that race at Vernon in 1:54.1, and with regular reinsman Ray Fisher, Jr. at the controls at Buffalo, All Deuce ($9.10) went straight to the lead from post three and set all the fractions in the race, :29.1, :59 and 1:28.4.
A 29.2 last quarter-mile put the winner a neck in front of Devils Delight (Jim McNeight) at the finish line. R Bs Rocket (Jimmy Whishman) came in third.
“She got good numbers (fractional times),” Fisher said. “It wasn’t too slow and it wasn’t too fast.”
It was the seventh win of the year for All Deuce, who is trained by Bob Gruber, and the $4,500 winner’s share of the purse boosted her season’s bankroll to $33,920, and to $115,000, lifetime.
